Wolsingham Community Pool
POOL POLICIES
The following Pool Safety and Childcare policy is based on national guidelines and has been drawn up to ensure that you, the customer, have an enjoyable and safe visit.
POOL SAFETY
- All pool attendants are fully qualified lifeguards and are there for your enjoyment and safety. Please listen to their advice
- Never swim under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- You should always swim within your own ability and take into account of any illness or disability that may affect you. Please inform staff of any specialist assistance you require or any medical condition you have.
- All non-swimmers, adults and children, will be restricted to the designated safe areas of the pool.
- A non-swimmer or poor swimmer may be defined as someone who is not able to swim 25 metres or tread water for 30 seconds to the satisfaction of the staff.
- Non-swimmers and poor swimmers must not go out of their depth, with the exception of very young children supervised on a one-to-one basis, who by virtue of their age and size are out of their depth even in the shallowest areas of the pool. The wearing of approved swimming aids under supervision may be considered sensible.
CHILD CARE
- All children under 8 years of age must be supervised by a responsible person when attending public swimming sessions, club activity or swimming lessons.
- The responsible person must be at least 16 years old
- The responsible person may supervise up to two children
- Children under the age of 5 should ideally be supervised on a one-to-one basis, regardless of whether they can swim or not. The final decision rests with the Duty supervisor, who will make a decision on the basis of the health and safety of you, and other bathers.
- The responsible person must maintain contact with the child/children in their care at all times, including changing areas.
The Pool safety and childcare policy seeks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of the customer of this facility. Please adhere to the instructions and should you have any queries, please contact a member of staff.
